Quick trivia: I don't like the whole idea of prefixing things with "man" to make it sort of an "anti-sissy euphemism". In fact, I dislike euphemisms. Just call it a hug, you know!

All I think is paint and colors,
light and value,
squeeze the tube and drop some paste,
mix it, collect it, brush it on the canvas,
colors, solid colors twirling as a twister,
solid hurricane of pasty colors...

There is so much I want to say,
there is so much I want to do.

Write a poem every day
make a painting,
shoot some pictures,
develop the film,
make a movie,
ride my bike,
fall in love
or just make love...

Every feeling,
every wish is just a stroke of color in my canvas
a stroke of pleasure
and when I come
the downfall follows.

Was it all just self deception?
Were we just trying to amuse ourselves?
Were we pretending?
Ah, the cold.
Was it all just build up for a moment,
for a second?
And once the orgasm is gone
all that is left is just the emptiness.

I stare eyes wide open,
I see the canvas
still untouched,
the piece of paper
still is blank,
the unloaded camera,
the rusty bike,
the shattered pieces
of the heart.
I hit the switch
and welcome darkness.

It's funny how it's easier to see the errors in a photo of the painting that in the actual painting. I just realized a brush stroke that came out of the face into the red of the t-shirt on the right side, and as much as I remember when it happened, I thought I would fix it and forgot to do it and didn't even realize until this moment.

There are areas that can use more detailing, like ear, hair, eye brows, eyes and lines around the eyes, and also some highlights in nose, chin and cheeks and darken the white of the eyes a bit. I'm not sure if I will do that though.

Tonight's full moon will be the biggest and brightest full moon of the year. It offers anyone with clear skies an opportunity to identify easy-to-see features on the moon.
This being the first full moon of 2010, it is also known as the wolf moon, a moniker dating back to Native American culture and the notion that hungry wolves howled at the full moon on cold winter nights. Each month brings another full moon name.
But why will this moon be bigger than others? Here's how the moon works:
The moon is, on average, 238,855 miles (384,400 km) from Earth. The moon's orbit around Earth – which causes it to go through all its phases once every 29.5 days – is not a perfect circle, but rather an ellipse. One side of the orbit is 31,070 miles (50,000 km) closer than the other.
So in each orbit, the moon reaches this closest point to us, called perigee. Once or twice a year, perigee coincides with a full moon, as it will tonight, making the moon bigger and brighter than any other full moons during the year.
Tonight it will be about 14 percent wider and 30 percent brighter than lesser full Moons of the year, according to Spaceweather.com.
As a bonus, Mars will be just to the left of the moon tonight. Look for the reddish, star-like object.

The moon illusion
Finally, be sure to get out and see the full moon as it rises, right around sunset. Along the horizon, the moon tends to seem even bigger. This is just an illusion.

Better drawing. This is the first layer, mostly midtones. In the next layer I'll do stronger shadows and more real colors. A third layer will bring highlights and there will probably be a fourth layer of finishing touches.

Just trying to apply intuitively what I have read... although I have just peeked around and I haven't read in detail. But I just had to try something.

The drawing was more detailed, but because I went over it a few times, the graffite moved when the paint started coming in, so I directed it as I could to create the darker areas of shadows, which will soon have a darker layer of paint anyway.

... and first time on canvas

8x10, took about 2 hours to complete.

After finishing, there are so many things I wish I had better in the initial drawing, but I guess I only started seeing those things once the color was there creating the volume.

This week I learned about a N.Y. artist who died last year, Dash Snow. Weird. Polaroids, showing often illegal actions, sex, drugs, poverty. Semen over newspaper clippings of police corruption. Has been described as honest and sensitive to beauty where people wouldn't see it.

An interesting article about his stuff:
